According to Amazon, the DVD of Joss Whedon’s latest tour-de-force, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, is going to be released on December 19^th. What a truly excellent happenstance!

Although I am practically jumping up and down at the thought of watching NPH sing out his villainous angst again and again from the comfort of my living room, I am more excited about the commentary which comes with the disc. Instead of going with the traditional commentary style and just talking about the mini-series, Joss and co have decided to sing their commentary (via the aptly titled, Commentary! The Musical). A musical commentary for a musical? Why hasn’t someone thought of this before?! If you didn’t think Joss was a genius before, this is all the evidence you need.

There’s no word as to whether the DVD will be hitting actual stores. For now, it seems that you will only be able to order it online. But I guess when you think about it, it seems fitting that an online sensation would be for sale exclusively on the web. I’m just sayin’.
