Shaken AND stirred...

Image:Another Way to Die (Vinyl cover).jpg

Oh my goodness me. I just finished listening to the new Bond theme song, "Another Way to Die", sung by Alicia Keys and my main man Jack White and holy crap, it's fantastic!

I'm not really a Bond girl but this song really intrigues me and makes me want to see the movie. But then again, can I really see myself walking into a movie titled Quantum of Solace? It seems like some B-movie extraordinaire complete with crappy sci-fi creatures and Matt LeBlanc. Oh wait, that's Lost in Space.

Funny story. I actually own Lost in Space on DVD. Why you ask? Well, get this. I got it for FREE when I bought 5 movies for $20 at the CNE this year. How fantastic is that? It's so bad that they need to give it away.

Okay back to the song. Listen to it yourself and let me know what you think. I mean, I could be biased considering I freaking worship anything and everything Jack White does. And I mean, I've been listening to a lot of Hanson lately (not joking) so, needless to say, my mind is slightly warped. Listen to "Middle of Nowhere" again and you'll understand what I'm talking about. I gave it another chance recently because I saw an interview where Kat Dennings mentioned that the one concert she’d kill to see would be Hanson doing a set completely based on that CD. I remembered loving the CD way back when and so I thought, hey let’s whip it out and give it another whirl. And wow, she’s onto something cause it totally rocks.

But enough about the Hanson boys and their loverly locks. Let’s get back to business.

All and all, I think “Another Way to Die”’ is a great track. Alicia is pretty awesome but its Jack’s voice and his face-melting solos that really put it over the edge into legendary territory. Bond has never sounded so sexy to me. But again, pale Vampire-looking indie guitarists are like kryptonite to me so maybe I’m exaggerating a titch.

Want to see if "Another Way to Die" leaves you shaken or stirred? Go to:

The song won’t be available online until the 23rd here in North America but for now it’s up for free.

P.S - Is it just me or is Third Man Records a reference to The White Stripes song  "Ball and Biscuit"? There's this part in the song where Jack says "It's quite possible that I'm your third man girl. But it's a fact that I'm the seventh son." I don't know if I'm looking way too into this or if this is a legit idea but either way, I like to think that Jack's involved somehow in the name.

Sigh. I still can't believe the man was on Ryerson campus and I freaking missed him. Freaking Burn After Reading I hate you.

*NOTE: I double checked and Third Man Records IS Jack's label. Apparently, according to the always accurate Wikipedia, my future husband (hmm...he's married...perhaps then my future lurid affair) recorded both the Raconteurs and White Stripes albums on this label.*

P.P.S - Thoughts on the cover art? I think it's vintagey and fab.

I just don't know what to do with myself..

Holy hell and a handbasket. Jack White and Alicia Keys are collaborating for the new Bond theme song! I know, WTF? But kind of genius.

To be honest, I don't even care that much about Miss Keys these days - I miss her "Songs in A Minor" days, not this "No One"' crap - but Jack White is pretty much holy in my humble opinion. And kind of hot in a I'm-so-pale-I'm-on-the-verge-of-dyin kind of way. He kind of looks like a vampire, which in my book, is immediately sexy. And he can play the guitar like nobody's business ("Seven Nation Army", I'm looking at you!). Oh did I mention that his voice is pretty much orgasmic at times (listen to "Ball and Biscuit" baby and you'll know what I'm talking about)? It's pretty much rivals dark chocolate and Colin Firth for my undying love and affection. Mmm..imagine those all combined in one sexy - yet bittersweetly delish - mixture of - slightly British - goodness. Oh god. Must. Contain. Self.

I know I once said that Bo Bice was the perfect man - seriously, ask Vi - but seriously, I'm so taking that one back. Bo may have some luscious locks but Jack's the whole package. And he's freakin' been to Nunavut.  My god. I think I'm in love with him.

P.S. - On a more serious and important note, do you think if Meg ever caught the Avian Flu or lost her hands in some sort of freak gardening accident that I'd have a chance to replace her and become Jack's wing-woman in making sweet, sweet rock of the alternative and often quirky ("Rag and Bone" my friends, "Rag and Bone") rock n' roll? Please say yes.
